First American edition, 16th printing hardcover copy of Matilda by Roald Dahl (Viking Kestrel, 1988). Increasingly rare early copy of this beloved classic children’s novel by the author of BFG / Charlie & The Chocolate Factory / The Fantastic Mr. Fox - and many others. Jacket is protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with some mild rubbing to faces and slight shelf wear around the edges. Boards straight and clean but with corners bumped. Binding is firm and spine is straight. A few subtle discolored areas to outer edges of a few pages, otherwise all pages clean and unmarked. See photos for condition.
