First edition, first printing hardcover copy of Rhubarb by H. Allen Smith (Doubleday & Company, 1946). With illustrations by Leo Hershfield. Comedy baseball novel which was the basis for the film of the same name. Rare true first edition in great shape for its age. Jacket now protected in removable archival sleeve but with some rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges. Creases, chipping and small tears around the edges with some tape applied to areas, especially near corners. Decorative boards are straight and clean but with corners slightly bumped. Binding is firm and spine is fairly straight. All pages clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
